Hello everyone. While trying to clean up my pool, my pump bit the dust. It was a used pump I got from a friend for cheap so wasn't really surprised when it died. Anyways I have been reading up on how to pick the right pump for my setup and had a few questions.

My filter, Sta-rite HRPB24, states that the flow rate should be between 47 and 62 gpm. From what I gather the max rate for a 1.5" line is 44gpm. It also said something about if there are 2 lines you can double it? I have main drain and skimmer, and 2 return lines.

1.) Would it be okay for me to get a pump that would push out 50 to 55gpm with that set up?

Calculating head: I took a stab at trying to calculate head, from the document I looked at it stated that suction head is about 4.5' if my equipment is 20ft away. Also I walked off my return lines and got about 75 feet for both of them, I then doubled this amount divided by 100 and multiplied by 10.24. I also added additional head for my filter and skimmer and main drain. Information from: http://www.poolspa.com/publications/sin/stories/pumps.htm

Here are the numbers:
5(suction head) + 10(filter head) + ([2(75)]/100)*(10.24) + 4 = 34.36ft

2.) Do these numbers seem fairly accurate? I know pacing off my lines isn't that best, but that's all I have right now.

3.) According to my numbers I could use a 3/4hp pump and be fine. Could anyone recommend a nice one around $400? 2 speed would be ideal.

Thanks,
Jesse

I have narrowed my choices down some, if anyone could give me some opinions on these.

Pentair 011512 WhisperFlo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ALA200/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER) - more expensive, but heard really good things

Pentair 340037 SuperFlo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N52ZVE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2LLS7SYKCBWI8) - Not eligible for prime shipping, heard good things, cheaper.

Hayward SP2705X7EE (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051NRVSU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER) - can't find much information on it, prime eligible.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse
