Question purex triton sm 20-2 leaking out backwash

I have a DE fileter with the Purex Triton multi-port and it is leaking out the backwash. I have pulled it apart to get the spider gasket and it was glued to the bottom. I've noticed controversy over gluing or not gluing the spider gasket down. I'm also replacing the o-ring on top since I have it pulled apart. Question - do I glue or not?

Also, I have 12-15 psi on the de filter, but low flow on the returne outlets at the end of the pool. I have movement closest to the pump on both sides, but at the other end, nothing or sometimes bubbles. If I put my fingers over the strong sides, water flows strong at the end. I'm wondering if using an air compressor to blow out the liines would help.

The pool is about 30k gallons.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the Forum!

I've never had trouble not gluing the gasket. I'd recommend not gluing it at first, if it gives you any trouble - then go ahead and secure it down. As you're about to discover, a glued gasket is a real PITA to remove!

Do you have directional inlets (eyeballs) for the returns? If so, try using 1/4" eyeballs on the strong returns and 1" on the weaker ones. It sounds like they were plumbed in series, rather than parallel so the returns first in line get more pressure than the further ones so playing with the size of the inlet will create backpressure and ~ equalize the flow.

I didn't glue and am not having trouble...and the glued gasket was a pain. I'll try the smaller eyes and see if that helps.
    Thanks,

Thanks for the update. I'm batting 500 so far, let's see how the eyeballs work for you
