    Default CYA question

Opened the pool 5 day's ago followed the advice given by pool doc and I now have a very clean pool. Now besides warming up the water my CH,PH are good the TA is a little low @ 40ppm and I have no CYA. My pool end's up with too much CYA towards the end of the season, now that it's been shocked with bleach and no green at all if I switch to Trichlor puck's will I get the CYA I need or should I add stabilizer? Thanks for all your help you made my life a lot easier.

Ifyou use trichlor, the CYA will rise, which is probably why you've had high CYA problems in the past. However, it mght not rise fast enough. If you find this to be true, you could add straight CYA to about 20 ppm for a "loading dose", then switch to trichlor for awhile until you reach your target.
