Default Intex 18ft 48 deep pool question on chemicals

Ok so my pool I drained it filled back up shocked and ran the filter for 12 hrs. However for some reason my chlorine level is at zero and have a lot of powder stuff at the bottom. What causes this? Is it dead chlorine? Ph and all others test fine but chlorine is now at 0.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

    Hi Sin,

Your chlorine level is at zero probably because 1)you don't have any stabilizer in the pool and the sun got it, 2) whatever's in the water used it all up and you're not through shocking it yet, or 3) you're using test strips for testing, have high levels, and the strips are bleaching out. Without some more information, there's no way to know which is the correct answer. As for the powder stuff at the bottom, might be dead algae, might be some of the shock product you used, if it was powder, might just be dirt/pollen.

If you could post a set of test numbers, taken with a drop-based kit (no strips!) for us to look at, along with what exact chemicals you've put in the pool so far (ingredients, not product names), we'll be happy to help you go from there. Also, take a few seconds and put your pool information in this chart so we don't have to waste a lot of time asking questions to get all the info we need....
