Default Secura-Matic Automatice Pool Cover Problem

Installed a new 20X40 in-ground liner pool two years ago and had a electric cover installed (Below the coping) to save heating and chemical costs. I only used it about 20 times after the pool was installed and it locked up and ripped on one side where the rope runs thru the tracks ! After the problem was supposedly corrected it just did not seem to work correctly so I pretty much avoided using it. I just tried to use it for the third time this year and it ripped again ! I don't think the pool builder has the experiance to correct the issue so I am looking for a expert In Southeast Michigan to look at it. Does anyone know somebody I can call or at least walk me thru what to look for ?? I also left a message with manufacturer who has since sold the division that made the cover. (Was "CANTAR" to "WET" (Water Enviroment Technoligies) I spent over 6K for the cover and it has been a total wast so any help would be appreated.

    Thanks

Sorry to hear about your cover issue. We have a similar cover (by Aquamatic). We went through a few minor hassles with the track, rope & alignment over the 5 years since installation. Any blockage (leaves, acorns, small pool toys, etc) can bind the rope while opening or closing.
Since yours is just 2 years old, it might help to check the warranty & keep at the manufacturer. In our case, Aquamatic fixed the track & tweaked the ropes as needed for 3 years & still warrants the cover itself till 7 years. The last time the track bound up was into the 4th year so I called for advice & they recommended pressure washing the track on a low to medium setting or they could do the same as a "Seasonal Tune-Up" for ~$300. Did the trick perfectly.
    HTH & Good luck!
