Archer, I'm looking for something similar in (cold, expensive) northern VT. My setup is comparable - 20x40 inground, vinyl liner, easy site access and excavation, not a lot of extras. I've gotten 4 quotes so far:

$25K from a local guy who installs Royal kits. He's new to the business and doesn't have many references.

$31K from another local guy who installs a steel wall kit with a Nature2 system, not sure which manufacturer. He has 25 years of experience as a sub to some major local PBs. Haven't checked his references yet.

$37K from the Radiant Pools dealer. Several crews, plenty of experience and good references.

$42K from the Legacy Edition Pools dealer. Longstanding local PB, many great references.

After much googling and talking with a few pool owners, I'm seriously considering going with Mr. $31K if he can convince me he'll do a good job building exactly the setup I want (drop the Nature2 for a SWCG, all Jandy or maybe Pentair components, variable speed pump, 2"/2.5" PVC plumbing, stubs for a future solar heater). Otherwise, Mr. $37K will do.

My mind isn't made up yet, and I still have a lot of research to do. This forum is the best resource I've found.
