Ug pool- cement? -is a liner really necessary?

here in costa rica- the 2 most common pools i've encountered either are lined with ceramic tile or just painted?

tile is VERY EXPENSIVE here- so i'm considering just painting it.

What do you recommend?

what are the cons to just painting?

is there a special type of paint to purchase. i see there is a LANCO FACTORY here - do they have what i need?

any thoughts or suggestions will be helpful.

I'm not the expert but I believe there's an epoxy-based paint that's used on concrete pools.
