I keep my CYA at 80-90 ppm at all times, but I'm an exception to the norm around here. My pool is in full sun from 8am to around 7pm, and as you know it's a killer out there right now. I find that when my CYA is any lower, then I have trouble keeping adequate chlorine in the pool, even with daily additions. With it at 80-90, then I add every other day, or sometimes every 3rd. I do shock more often than others, though--I shock it after a week or so of heavy bather load and after any hurricane-driven storm. Glad to see another Louisianian around here!!

edit: BTW, I'm up very near Shreveport

I am down in Lafayette and my pool is only exposed to full sun about 4 hours a day so I am going to experiment with around 50. I have always had a problem keeping chlorine the pool. Sush......dont mention hurricanes, maybe they forgot where we are! Thanks for the help.
