This is the one I have from Home Depot.

You do have to open it to manually switch it but it's simple to do that ..you are still insulted from the "guts" and it's electronic. I wired it in after my existing switch so I can isolate the timer and it's all on a GFI Breaker back at the panel.

Thanks. The GE/Home Depot model may be closer to my needs.

By "wet location", I didn't mean it would be sprayed or anything. But if I turn off the pump to clean the basket and turn it back on, chances are my hands will be wet.

My father (in Europe) has a timer that's in a waterproof enclosure. You have to open it to program it, but there's a switch on the housing to control it manually. I think it's an ON-OFF-PROGRAM type switch (if I remember properly). That's what I was looking for.

But if that's not an option, I was wondering what people with a timer did when they need to turn off a running filter (for cleaning basket, etc.) or turn it on during "off hours" (for vacuuming, etc.).

Glenn, I assume your timer stops when you turn off the switch and you have to reset the clock now and then.

Since you already have a switch, you could use something like this perhaps: http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CFcQ8wIwAQ

I use the rocker switch inside the timer mostly ... it is three position, On - Off - Timer ...but yes if I turn it off with normal switch I would have to reset the time.
