Not sure what you mean. Sand lasts millions of years! Ok, ok. In your sand filter sand lasts indefinitely unless you do something bad to goop it up. Poconos is going 14? years, I think, Watermom's on 11 or 12, and me, the noobie is still wet behind the ears at 9 years. aylad's been running her sand filter for years, too.

As Carl noted, sand lasts indefinitely (some dealers with bags of sand to sell, notwithstanding). But, when there's sand in the pool, that can often indicate problems with your filter, your multiport valve, or -- if you replaced your pump -- with a pump that's too large for the filter.

OK I'm back it was not sand just junk from the trees.I like trees but not in my yard!
