Yea...I have CYA, well at least some. The mixed water now turns cloudy, and when I slowly add it to the tube the black dot gets hard to see but never really disappears. It starts to fade around 40. Does the black dot need to completely disappear to get an accurate reading?

Yes. You shouldn't be able to see the dot at all.

So...Can I assume my CYA is on the rise, just not where it needs to be yet?

What is your volume? I see that you've added 4 lbs. of stabilizer. How many days has it been since you added it? What was your CYA reading before you added it? And, now you are using trichlor pucks, right?

Volume is 14,000 gallons. New liner, new water 2 weeks ago. CYA was 0. Added 4 lbs stabilizer with sock over return almost a week ago. As stated above, dot starts to disappear around 40, but is still visible filled to top of tube. Bought a floter and have pucks left over from last year. Have not started with the pucks yet, was planning on starting this weekend. Does the pump need to run while the floater is in the pool?
