Your better off fixing the problem than adding to it. Cut the male fittings off then install new schedule 80 male fittings with teflon tape and Permatex #2 (dry fit the fittings first to judge the amount of teflon tape). If you can not easly glue back with out doing a lot of cutting just add two unions (one on the intake side and one on the discharge side).
