Default Polymeric sand in my filter

I had interlock installed beside my pool, and while I was cleaning it the other day a good deal of the sand got in the pool. Now this is no ordinary sand, but polymeric sand, i.e., it hardens when it dries. Unfortunately I ran my navigator without thinking and I assume sand got into the filter. It will probably be alright now, but I'm concerned when I close the pool in the Fall and drain the filter, it might dry out.

Has anyone ever run across this before? Is there really a problem here? I'm afraid that when I open the pool in the Spring, the sand in the filter will be too hard to filter.

I'm not familiar with the product, but what I found in this thread
    http://www.groundtradesxchange.com/f...eric-sand.html
suggest your fears may be warranted.

The cautious thing to do might be to open your filter and remove the top 6" of sand.
