Help unlocking the Navigator locking vac lock flap

We have a Navigator pool cleaner with a locking Vac Lock on the pool end side. W pulled the NAvigator out to go swimming yesterday, the flap closed and now I cant get it open. The manual does not show how to unlock the flap, can anybody help this poor sole...

make sure the pump is off (you have no chance if it's on), then use a flat edge (regular) screw driver to pry it open. There is a notch on the bottom and the screw driver head should fit in there and then just give it a twist. I can open mine by leaning over the edge without having to get in the pool.
