    Default Mixing pool chemicals

I have had my pool for 23 years and it has been a struggle keeping a clean balanced pool. This year using bleach and the Taylor test kit, it has been fantastic.

I am going to be away for a week and wanted to use tablets. I have the calcium hypochlorite tablets. Can I mix them with bleach in my skimmer? I wanted to shock with bleach and then use the tablets just before I leave.

    thanks

Don't DIRECTLY mix them with bleach if that's what you mean. It is, however ok to use them in a pool where you would normally be using bleach for chlorination.

I am going to shock the pool with bleach and then (within 15 minutes) place the tablets in the skimmer.

If you just make sure the bleach is mixed into the water first, then that will be fine. So if you add your bleach via skimmer, give it 10-15 minutes or so to circulate before adding the tabs. If you add it via return stream, you could go ahead and put the tabs in the skimmer and you shouldn't have any problems.
