    Welcome to the forum.
    One question right now.....when power is on is it makine any noise at all like a hum? If you hear absolutely nothing then it's not the centrifugal switch contacts that you mention. Also, when was it run last? If it's making no noise at all and it hasn't been run in a long time then I would suspect a poor, read corroded, connection somewhere. Maybe in the back of the morot where the wires connect to it.

    Edit: Here's a pic of the back of my superpump 1997 vintage.

    Starting capacitor on the left, centrifugal starting contacts like an inverted V in the middle, terminal block on the right, thermal cutout top-middle. The centrifugal weights and springs (one showing) right behind the contacts spin with the rotor.
