LOL, Carl---trying to keep the BIG hole in the ground from being conducive to koi!!

TheGoose, I misspoke when I said pump--actually what I meant was motor for the pump. I have a Hayward superpump with currently a 1 HP A.O. Smith motor. The pieces of my pump are intact, because I've learned to replace them myself one at a time, so I basically have a new pump. The motor is what burned out--spent too much time with a leaking shaft seal and the bearings rusted out. Anyway, bought the new 1 HP replacement (identical to my old one) for $180, including shipping. Ordered it the night of the 20th, arrived on the night of the 23rd. And ordered through the Amazon link, so hopefully PF will see a donation from the sale.

My new motor is installed, working like a champ, and so quiet that I have to go look for rippling from the returns to make sure it's still working!! A huge change from the jet engine-like screeching that the old pump was doing after the bearings started going out. And the best part--the pool is still blue!! Just have a bunch of junk (pollen, pine tree seeds, etc) floating on top that needs to be skimmed out. Shocked it, and once I get a chance to vac the dirt off the bottom, we're swim ready as soon as it warms up enough.

    Bring on summer
