    Default best pool shock?

    Looking to purchase my pool shock for the summer, I always get my cholrine tabs from costco since its a great deal, but looking for best bang for my buck for shock. I have a 40K gallon chlorine pool.

    Given that you are using trichlor (tabs), which will raise CYA, you probably want to use an non-stabilized chlorine 'shock'.

    That leaves you with two choices: bleach (clorox or 'liquid chlorine') or calcium hypochlorite.

    Avoid the shock blends at all costs -- those hobo soup products are expensive, less effective, and have unpredictable effects.
