Default New user considering salt conversion

I have an in ground 30000gal steel sided vinyl pool with chlorinator (3 inch tabs), DE filter and heater. I am considering conversion to salt chlorine but am concerned about corrosion of my pool deck and walls. It is bluestone coping and pavers on a concrete slab. Do I have to worry? Thanks.

Use the search link in my signature to research this, a bit.

    Salt does increase corrosion.

However, you steel walls SHOULD be dry, and unexposed. Stone is another issue. It appears that with some stone, and dry climates, there are some significant problems. We think it has to do with the type of stone used, and the lack of wash down from regular rains. Most of the problems we're aware of are in Arizona and parts of Texas.

Older, high salt units (mostly from Australia) can cause more severe problems.

And, you should not install an SWCG on a pool with a non-salt resistant heat exchanger in the heater or heat pump. But, most people are NOT seeing corrosion problems.
