Our cover has a very difficult time opening. I can get it done, but it is via repeated on/offs with the key, with some not so good sounding sounds. Closing it works like a champ. Any ideas?

Welcome to The Forum!
I've played (installed and serviced dozens of autocovers, most of them Coverstars) with these and my first take is that you are trying to uncover the pool with too much water on it.
