How's this filter fiber stuff?

I just received the shipment of all my ABG parts and there was a bag of filter fiber stuff. I guess this is supposed to be a better than using DE.

Any thoughts on using this instead of DE? Is it better?

I can't speak to how well it works in a filter designed for DE but I did try it as a filtration aid in my sand filter. The cellulose fiber material did not enhance filtration in my case. It did make a mess in my filter. When I opened the filter, I found it in large clumps that looked a lot like a newspaper dropped in the street in the snow and driven over.
