Default Leaking on top of brand-new multi-valve

I just purchased and installed a Hayward S244T sand filter. After about a day of running it, I noticed a small pool of water on top of the multi-valve. Upon closer inspection, I see that the water is leaking inside the area where the various notches are for selecting the desired flow. Is there something seriously wrong with my valve?

My new Pentair multi-valve leaked the first time I used it too. In my case I had to tighten the all screws around the the top of the valve a little.
