Default Hayward DE filter EC65 - when to replace the "fingers"

I am on my second EC65, first tube platter busted, and I found a replacement filter as used.

Now after 8 years of faithful service, the least pressure I can get with water moving thru the filter is 23 PSI. With the 6 lbs of DE it is basically starting out at 28psi. When it hits 38 not much is moving thru.

I have done the Soap and acid baths, but when do you say it's time, and bite the $450 solution?

    I have a 20x40 inground with a 1 hp Superpump 220 volt.

    Thanks for your reply.

IF the filter pressure is starting high and rising very fast even after degeasing and acid washing it's time!
