    Default septic tabs?

Hello: Newbie here with a 150 cya after using trichlor and dichlor (didnt know better). Now my FC is constantly reading 0 and algae have taken over numerous times. I dont want to use the rest of the stabilized tabs so can I use septic tabs, which are basically 60ish% cal hypo?

With no other information, all I can tell you is use bleach and lots of it. Cal-hypo may be OK but it depends. I don't know what else may be in septic tabs.

To give you useful advice we'll need more information. Please Post your pool info here:

and get a good test kit ASAP:
HTH 6-Way Test Kit @ Walmart
    Taylor K2006A (3/4 oz bottles) @ Amazon
    Taylor K2006C (2 oz bottles) @ Amazon
The wall mart HTH 6-way drops kit is a decent starter kit but you'll really need to order one of the K-2006 kits to operate you pool.

I suspect you can, and in fact might get great results from them. But I'd encourage you to find the MSDS sheets for those, and see what's in them. In the past, cal hypo was almost always sold unblended, but these days manufacturers are adding all sorts of goop. If you can give me the
    + exact product name
    + manufacturer name
+ EPA est. number (from label)
I can probably find that info for you.
