Default Jandy JVA2440 sucking air and leaking

I am having trouble with a Jandy JVA2440 valve. I am getting air sucking in through the base of the valve and leaking water just above the stopper. I think this is causing the heater to not function properly and possibly allowing water to drain from the spa to the pool. I did take the valve apart and noticed the rubber faceplate to the actual valve stopper was broken free, but seemed to seal ok when I put it back together. Any thoughts?

The JVA 2440 is an actuator, not a valve:

I'm assuming you have some sort of Jandy valve body underneath, like one of these:

The manuals and parts lists there may help you ID the valve you have and even the part you need. But, once you ID the valve, if you can't work out what you need, post back and we'll try to help once we know what you have.
