Baume is not expressed in percents. 31% by weight is the same as 20 degrees Baume. What is labeled Muriatic acid is usually 31% by weight or 20 degrees Baume. If the acid is at a different concentration it is usually labeled hydrochloric acid, not muriatic. Anything over 25% by weight is considered to be a corrsosive chemical and 33% to 40% by weight is considered to be concentrated HCl. The percentage refers to the amount by weight of hydrogen cloride gas dissoved in water. Hydrgen chloride gas is the fume that chokes you when you open the bottle.
