    I assume the 'switch' you refer to is the starter switch and you are rotating the rotor. Sounds like you jiggle the switch in the process and it runs. Capacitors usually fail and do not fix themselves, that is, become inermittent. The centrifugal starter switch could have crummy contacts so if you can get in there with a thin, flat file that is best. Next best is to use some 600 grit paper, fold it a couple times to give it some stiffness and dress the contacts. Just a few swipes should do it.
