baquapure sand filter system prblem getting it back together

we took apart our filter and now it wont go back together. Its as if the pipe comming up is to long. What can we do? Thanks, Sharon

I believe what has happened is that when we took off the top of the filter the middle section of pipe moved from the bottom of the filter and now must be sitting on an inch of sand under it. Does any one know how I can get it back to the bottom short of emptying the sand and starting over? Thanks, Sharon
