PVC resting on brick or concrete block

I have had to have my skimmer lines replaced. To prevent the skimmer from settling I was advised to tamp the sand under and rest the PVC elbow on brick or concrete block. Any chance this will eventually wear the PVC?

Don't know about the idea of resting the elbow on a block but if that makes sense I'd leave a little gap between the elbow and block, maybe 1/4", and squish a bunch of silicone seal around them. The stuff is tough once it fully cures and I've made engine mounts for my Harley out of silicone seal.
