    Default Lots of rain lately...

I am out of polyquat and it has been raining off and on for three days here. Should I bring up my chlorine to shock level to avoid algae? If so, how long should that level be maintained? Same rules as a regular shock?
Just moved in so I'm not exactly sure on manufacturers or specs; best guess: 24' x 48" AGP, sand filter with 3/4HP pump, Taylor K-2006

Whether it rains or not, the rules are the same. Maintain your chlorine level in the needed range based on your CYA level per the Best Guess chart. Rain doesn't cause algae. The reason many pools develop algae after rain is because people don't go out and check their pools when it rains and thus their chlorine levels drops too low.
