    . . . membership upgraded.

The only immediate problem I see is with your pH, which is too high. Depending on how you're testing, it may be WAY too high, since with many kits a reading of 8.0, doesn't mean it's 8.0, it means it's 8.0 OR HIGHER.

So, add some acid till it's below 8.0, at least a little => see http://pool9.net/ma/

Scaling sides that can be cleaned with a pressure washer AND you have low CH? Sounds like sand algae residue => http://pool9.net/algae-sand

    Good luck!

Thank you both for responding so quickly.

    Watermom,
I purchased the Taylor K 2000 test kit from the Amazon link through the forum.
The filter is a Pentair clean and clear 320. It has 4 cartridge filters. There are 2 sets of filters one is pentair and the other is filbur. I have been able to clean them and it is running well.
Our water is city. The pool looks good I just need to get the numbers right.

    PoolDoc,
I will lower the Ph slowly and then retest water. The scaling sides sounds like my pool but the pictures don't match. Before I pressure washed it if I brushed the sides the water would get very cloudy brownish color and the gritty substance was always on the steps and ladder steps. I have not seen the grit since refilling.

I ordered the K-2006. It has the wheel thing. Did I order the wrong one? I am so numbers challenged anyway and to have to try and fix something using numbers is very difficult. I hope I never lose my notebook full of pool info.

    Thanks so much

K2006 is the right one. Ignore the book/wheel thing. The kit is great. Those other two things are not so good.
