I can't help at that level of spending, mind you if you loose the great big pump you have for the average pool and filter size you could afford a lot more on the money you'd save on electricity
    Huh?

To answer the original question, I haven't done anything like this but I am curious. If you end up trying it out I would like to know how well it works, especially for that price. Its a stock tank auto fill valve for cattle or horse or whatever troughs. Someone put some PVC on it and is selling it as a pool gadget for much more. But if it works for you, go for it and let us know how it goes.

Huh? That hasn't answered the original question either, just a statement of wanting to know how it goes

You can add the water back at the pad, into the return line but a solenoid valve, double check valve and non return may be needed. Then you just need a level sensor in the skimmer or somewhere preferably out of eyesight. probably cost more than the $13 dollars though, for that you just get ugly things.

Aside from the apparent dislike of "ugly" things and financial advice, what have you decided to do Zac581? I would think it would work.
