    Question Gel Coat refinishing

Has anyone refinished their fiberglas pool? I have that job coming up this Fall.
I already bought a small amount of gelcoat from a fiberglas shop nearby and recoated the above water portion. I just did some sanding to rough up the existing coat and applied the gel coat with a paint roller. It worked OK except I guess I had too much activator because it hardened way too quickly.
I am in Texas so while I am scared to drain the pool I don't really think it will pop up.
Would appreciate any tips or personal experiences.
The contractor wants $7000 to do it which is why it has become a DIY project.

You might want to look in the boating forums for gel coat repairs. I do remember some guys posting stuff about how to work with gel coat. I believe one of the sites was Continuous wave that specialized in Boston whaler boats. http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/Ul...i?action=intro

Many thanks. I may even visit a local boat repair shop, maybe I could pay for some lessons?
