Need help asap (pool pump)

Hello,
We have a hayward 1hp pump for our AG pool. A few weeks ago our pool sprung a leak and the pump was completely submerged in sandy water before we could get it out. Now in hooking it up tonight with our new pool it hums but will not run. Is our pump sunk?????

Please help as quick as you can as my pool needs chemicals and I can't do that w/out running pump and filter. Thanks.

ok nevermind we fixed it. Took it all apart and cleaned the insides.
