Default Well Water With Iron and other good stuff.

I filled my pool with all well water. Should I use some type of iron out?
The water is pretty cloudy and green, which I am working on also.

Another thing. Is the so called "Shock" from the pool store the same as bleach?

    Thanks
    Mike

I would use a metal sequesterant before shocking so the water doesn't color from the iron (yellowish brown) and so you don't get any staining

'Shock' is a verb, not a noun. It is something you do to your pool by raising the chlorine levels to 10 ppm or higher, depending on your CYA (stabilizer) levels. See this thread:

    http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?t=365

You can shock with any form of unstabilized chlorine, sodium hypochoroite (liquid chlorine and bleach), Calcium hypochlorite ( the powdered stuff ususally labeled shock), or lithium hypochlorite (VERY expen$ive....very few use it because of the price)

    Thanks
    Mike
    Hope this helps.
