    Default Low flow on pump...

    HI All,
I was at my Dad's yesterday and his 15 yr old IG pool pump had a lot of air floating around the top of the strainer. I'm not talking little bubbles but a large bubble almost like an air gap between the water and the lid. Anyway I felt the power of the return jets and I swear I could pee harder than what was coming out(well, maybe I can't pee that hard but you get the point )

Is it possible his pump is just worn out and needs to be replaced? It's the original pump. Any ideas on how to test it?

    Thanks,
    J.

    J.,

There should be no air in the basket (as you realize). Almost exclusively, that indicates a suction side air leak. Maybe at the skimmer or maybe at the o-ring that seals the lid on the strainer or maybe at a connection in between but you need to find the source of that air and seal it.
