Default New(to me) pool just filled filter running

Using my neighboor's testing kit, I got:

0 cl (after filling with city water)
    7.2 PH

I went to Walmart but the Canadian Walmart do carry the 5 HTC testing kit. I will try pool store tonight to find a Taylor or Lamotte (I can't order Ben's kit in Canada).

I've added bleach anyway last night. My pool volume is 8500 gallons or 32000 l. I have added a 9.5 litres or 2.5 gallons of 5.25 bleach. This morning (5h30) the chlorine level where above 10 ppm. I didn't have time to dilute the solution with distilled water to get proper reading.

Should I shoot for the same level tonight?

Your going to need to add some stabilizer. I got mine from Walmart last year.

Since you are not fighting any attacks on your new water, regular chlorine levels per "Ben's Best Guess" will be fine.

I would let it drift down to the 3-5 range, unless you have algae in it already. You do need to test for total alk, and as mentioned above, you need to add some stabilizer so the pool will hold chlorine.

I will test the water and adjust to 3-5 ppm. I will get a proper testing kit and I will be able to adjust it better.
