Rinse setting?

My system is a purex triton II. The multiport valve has a setting for "Rinse". Since I don't have a manual and can't seem to find on on-line, would someone kindly tell me what this setting does and how to use it.

After you backwash the filter, set the valve to rinse and run the pump again for 30 sec or so to reset the filter bed. Ilike to backwash, rinse, backwash, and rinse before going back to filter mode.
