Hayward Perflex EC-45

I just got a Hayward Perflex EC-45 given to me. I currently have a sand filter and want to connect this filter as well. This is feasable I hope? I have a sand filter, and I want to run the sand filter most of the time and the DE filter on occasion. What do you all think?

Hi, I owned one of the very first Perflex filters. Even back then they were the bomb. With some PVC pipe and a few valves it should be real easy to direct the water to one system or the other, and back to the pool from either one.
