    Ahh yes, I remember those awful days. I could sit in my house when it rained and almost watch the algae grow when it rained. Then run to the pool store and buy shock and sanitizer/algistat....another $150 later, I am brushing my walls for an hour, then vacuuming to waste, then adding chemicals, rinse and repeat. Congrats once again, and enjoy the summer!

    BTW- if you haven't ordered Ben's kit yet, it is a must have!

    I bought new sand and CYA. I got the stuff from Lowes made by Aqua Chem.

    I guess I'll shoot for 30. I think I'll start at 25 just to have some room.

    According to the bleach calculator program - I'll need 4.5 pounds of CYA

    I think the label said it was 100 % CYA

    The stuff at the pool store wasn't and the guy said it was conditioner that's why it had other stuff in it.
