    Default DE filter sizing

Is it possible to oversize a DE filter to the point that its performance suffers?

Default Bump... Possible to get too big a DE filter?

Aside from the added initial cost... Are there any downsides to getting a filter (of any kind... DE, Sand, Cartridge) tha's too big? I really can't think of any.

When I redid my pool equipment. I went from a 35 sq ft DE filter to a 48 sq ft DE for my little pool.

A tiny bit oversized, but I figured the backwash cycles would be less frequent and the larger size would give me the maximum flow rate.

I can also run the pump for shorter number of hours. I probably turn over all the water in my pool in approx 3 hours.
