SWG safe for heater?

Hi All,
Considering an SWG but a friend converted to salt and said his pool company had to replace his heater because it wasn't compatible. I just bought my Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm and have no plans to replace it. Anyone have any opinions? I didn't see anywhere in the manual where it says no salt water. It says fresh water only but i thought 3000ppm of salt is still considered fesh water

If you have a copper heat exchanger there could be problems. If you have a titanium heat exchanger or one of the coated ones it should be fine.

Thanks. NOt sure which exchanger I have. Maybe rpoldervaart can chime in since he has the same heater and an SWG

Sta-Rite said as long as the salt concentration doesn't exced 3500ppm I am OK to use my heater. I Was worried there for a bit. NOw I have to decide which generator to buy.
