I don't see any reason to shock it, unless you just want to. But in answer to your question, you can shock with cal-hypo, as long as your Ca numbers aren't too high.

I didn't think I needed to but I have read on here of some people who do it after every high bather load whether it needs it or not.
Thanks for the info and the compliment! At the end of July we'll be getting a new paver patio and landscaping around the pool-then we're broke!
Hello this is off subject but where did you get your pool fence. Did you install it yourself?
It's a black vinyl coated chain link installed by a local fence co.
