I think there's a good chance you'll be fine. I would reconnect the system and fire up the old pump.
If it's toast, you'll know what you need to do....replace it. If it runs, that'll take the pressure off having to decide so hurriedly and you can assess it at your liesure.

I think Dave's probably right about the pump's prognosis, however check the pump inlet and outlet for new leaks - running them dry sometimes heats the ports up enough to warp the threaded fittings, which can lead to air in the pump housing (or priming problems) or water dripping from the effluent fitting.
