Default Will Yellow Treat just eat away chlorine

I shocked to about 15 from 5 cl then added Yellow Treat. I also added 3 lbs of CYA to bring up from 12. After a couple of hours my orange oto cl test at 15 was down to about 1-2/ Is that normal. It says to wait 24 hrs before shocking again, but I think I need to keep the cl levels high- correct? Yes, mustard algae.

I belive Yellow treat is a bromide based product...if so then yes it will gobble clorine. I added a quart of sodium bromide to kill my mustard algae...and then I just kept adding chorine like crazy to keep te levels up (above 10 for me)...and it worked. Took about a week. Waterbear has posted some good info about bromide products if you do a search.
