    Default Right light bulb?

I ordered a replacement bulb from Leslie's for our Hayward Sp-543 underwater light. Leslie's quoted me $17.45 - vs. $30-40 from the locals. The original bulb is a 500 watt, 120 volt r-40 type. Can this fixture take a 12 volt bulb?

Kirsten, the short answer is no, the 12 v bulbs are attached to a 10:1 step down transformer running 120 v to it would cause it to blow. Stick with the 500 w 120 v r-40, unless you want to get the transformer and have an electrician wire it for you.

Thanks very much for the info! I will stick to the 110 volt bulb. Have a great weekend -
