Default Smell chlorine w/ 0 cc?

My pool is at 22 Cl and 0 CC per Ben's test kit. I have been shocking with bleach. I understand that I am to smell no cl if I have no CC. Well I swam a while ago and my saltwater pool tastes a little strong. Doesn't taste normal. Also, I can smell cl on my skin even after I showered. Is this just because my levels are soooo high?

It is very possible that you will smell chorine on your skin because the free chorine will react with the persperation and even your skin itself to form combined chlorine that you can smell! With 22 ppm FC in the pool I am sure it does taste a bit strong!

What is your stabilizer level? If it is high (above maybe 60 ppm) then I would swim but wear an old bathing suit. If it is low I would let it drop a bit.

Great- my CYA is around 28. I added 4 lbs 2 days ago- hasn't rose much. 30,000 gal vinyl lined. So is it UNSAFE to swim, or just may bleach us out a little?

well, if you are still shocking the pool because of algae I would not swim. If you have stopped shocking then a good sunny day will burn off a lot of the chlorine!
