green water. tried everything! HELP!

i have a 10,000 gallon above ground pool with a jacuzzi laser sand filter. ever since i opened it, the water has been green. i've tried everything, shocking,algaecide, overshocking. i've put in over 18 gallons of shock in the last 2 months and it has gotten a little better but not much. i had a crack in the lateral housing last month. had someone come out to replace it but he ended up just putting glue on it to fix. i took top off last night and it seemed to be filled with sand so i don't think that its a problem. help!

You'll need a complete set of test results before anyone can help in a meaningful way. Either get test results from a pool store or track down the HTH 5-way kit (WalMart) and post the results.
