    Default Intex Pump Cooling

Our 5500 gal Intex above ground pool has the stock pump using the "B" filter. My question is, can your run this pump 24/7 if needed? I assume the water going through the pump helps take away the heat from the pump turbine? Is this correct? Anyway, my current system is to just run it during the daylight hours unless the water starts getting cloudy. I remove and rinse the filter several times a week. Thanks, Bob R.

I've had experience with smaller intex pumps (A filter) and we ran them 24/7 with no negative effects.

I must add that we never had an intex POOL last more than a year ($&* cats, weed eaters, etc.) and to replace the pool cost practically as much as buying a whole new setup. So had a new pump each time.

    HTH!

I have the same pump and run it 24/7 with no problem here in central TX. I've had mine for 3 years now. The past 2 years I ran it 24/7 about 1/2 the summer and 8 hrs/day the rest of the summer and into the fall. About 8 hours a day during the coldest days of winter to keep the pool from freezing over.
