Most times, it's deet (mosquito repellent) that eats rubber/plastics, I wonder what kind of chemicals got on it to cause that, usually chlorine just bleaches rubber and possibly, enough of it might prematurely dry the rubber out, I can't see it being a baquil to chlorine conversion that did it...
